Recommended Track Warmup

Here is Coach Doug's recommended track warmup video. A proper dynamic warmup is essential before every practice and competition.

Recommended Training Gear

We are often asked what gear we recommend, or what gear we use during our practice sessions. Many of the links below are Amazon affiliate links which will take you directly to the product. We may earn a small commission should you purchase through our links, however there is no additional cost or obligation to you.

Running Watches

We are big fans of the Garmin line of dedicated running watches. They sync seamlessly with training platforms like Final Surge or Garmin Connect, making it easy for coaches to push workouts directly to your watch.

  • Garmin 55

Great introductory-level dedicated running watch for training.

  • Garmin 165

Intermediate-level dedicated running watch with additional features.

  • Apple Watch

Suitable for casual training and day-to-day wear with basic pace and distance tracking, but not ideal for structured coach-led training.

Track Starting Blocks

We use Eastern Atlantic Competition starting blocks. A reputable brand that has lasted several seasons.

Wickets

We use 6″ wickets for cross country, track, and agility training. They help reinforce knee drive, body awareness, and midfoot strike when set up properly. You will want a minimum of 6 wickets to get started.

Resistance Bands

We use resistance bands for both explosive power training and isolated strength exercises.

  • Kbands Speed Reactive Stretch Cord

Great training tool for resistance, power, and explosiveness when tied to a stationary object. The bungee band is attached around a solid object like a post and the athlete wears the belt. We recommend that we teach you how to use it properly during one of our sessions before trying them at home.

  • Fitness Loop Bands

Great for isolated strength exercises and developing strength.
