Build your competitive edge during your offseason

Private and small group track coaching is our specialty

We help middle school, high school, and collegiate athletes of any skill level get season and race ready. Our current athletes range from new sport athletes to state, national and collegiate-level athletes. In addition to training, we help athletes achieve a life-long love of running and physical fitness by developing a love towards training and self-improvement.

We are a USA Track and Field club as well as a member of the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

I have enrolled and paid. What’s next?

Payment of fees confirms your athlete’s spot. They are in! Thank you and we look forward to working with you and your athlete.

Within a few hours of signing up (depending on time it may be the next day), you will receive an email with next steps. In this email, we will be asking a few additional questions we may have, like your preferred contact information (phone/email), athlete’s grade and school, primary event and a quick paragraph or so about their background and what they would like to get out of coaching.

About 5-7 days out from the first session, we will send out a reminder email with additional information if needed. If you have questions in the meantime, just reach out!

What does small group training look like?

We offer groups for middle school and high school athletes. Within each age group, we further divide our group training by anticipated event. For example, sprinters vs distance athletes. This allows us to focus the training as well as keep age groups similar.

Each session is approximately an hour long. It starts with warmup and form/technique drills. This prepares each athlete for their workout and helps reenforce good form, technique and muscle activation. During the warm-up we will ask each athlete about what they accomplished on their own since we last met as well as discuss progress, answer questions, etc. We will guide the group on what they should work on individually between sessions.

After the warm-up we start the workout. This can differ based on the group they enroll in and where they are at as we go through the program. As we get closer to their season, our training gets specific to their anticipated event.

At the end of each workout, we do a brief cool-down and discuss what athletes should work on during the upcoming week. The group works as a team, regardless of each athletes ability or background.

* We do not coach field events, jumps. throws, or hurdle technique (However, Hurdlers would benefit from the running and speed development).

We work with runners from dozens of Central Ohio school districts, including Olentangy, Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, Delaware, New Albany, Big Walnut, Johnstown-Monroe, Northridge, Centerburg, Hilliard, Columbus, Columbus Academy, Columbus School for Girls, Bishop Ready, Bishop Watterson, Clearfork, Grandview Heights, Bexley, Gahanna and Upper Arlington plus numerous middle schools across these districts.

Our coaches don’t just complete a “weekend certification”. Our coaches seek out continuing education programs and regularly attend national training clinics to make sure we are up to date on the latest training modalities and sports science.

All training is applied based on an athlete’s current ability and experience as well as where they are in the offseason, or preseason training. We follow periodized training principles and apply the latest/proven sports science and sport performance methodologies. We don’t just “run” or do “busywork”.

Additionally, we occasionally use slow-motion video analysis and electronic timing systems to capture form, technique and accurate timing for sprints. Our electronic timing systems are accurate down to 2/100s of a second and can simulate “set commands” and simulated starter pistols.

Events we coach

We work with a wide range of Track and Cross Country athletes. We specialize in all running events, from sprints to mid/long distance individual and team relays. We do not coach hurdle technique, however we can help with power, speed and endurance.

Sprints

We coach the following Sprint distances:
Boys / Girls – 100M Dash
Boys / Girls – 200M Dash
Boys / Girls – 400M Dash

When we work with Sprinters, we focus our training around four primary phases of Sprint mechanics:

1. Starts (Including standing and block starts)
2. Acceleration
3. Drive phase (Top speed)
4. Deceleration*

*The name Deceleration is misleading – Here, we are not trying to actively slow down, but rather this is where we have to work harder to stave off fatigue factors that slow us down – for example, working on our anaerobic endurance)

Relays

We coach the following Relay distances:

Boys / Girls 4x100M
Boys / Girls 4x200M
Boys / Girls 4x400M
Boys / Girls 4x800M

Mid-Distance / Distance

Boys / Girls 800M Run
Boys / Girls 1600M Run
Boys / Girls 3200M Run

Events we don’t coach

We do not coach the following events:

Hurdles (although we CAN coach starts, acceleration, and speed/endurance – just not hurdle technique)
Jumps
Throws
